She was inspired to speak out by the courage of the young men who testified against Jerry Sandusky in his trial.
Shockingly, Jacobson revealed that she was molested by a teenage neighbour who her parents hired to babysit Jacobson when she was a young girl.
The abuse occurred twice and involved inappropriate touching and fondling of genitalia.
As a result, she felt intense shame and embarrassment about the abuse.
At that time, whenever Jacobson knew that her babysitter was coming to look after her, she would try to face a stomach ache so her parents would not leave.

She began her journey as an assignment editor at the CBS affiliate in Detroit, Michigan, before moving on to on-air reporting and anchoring in Traverse City, Michigan, and Sacramento, California.
