Is Cari Champion Married?

As of 2024, Cari is not married to anyone. Hence, there’s no question about having a husband.

But let’s talk some future stuff about Cari because she’s got a pretty amazing preference for men.

First and foremost, it’s about her dating preference. The kind of man she wants and the qualities she looks for in a man.

For anyone who is dreaming about becoming Cari’s champion, read carefully.

Love, Dating, & Boyfriend

First and foremost, Cari prefers to date men from the black ethnic background.

Naturally, she wants a husband who comes from black ethnicity background.

However, that does not mean it’s a strict must-have.

Cari prefers black males because they are already familiar with the needs and wants of a black woman.

In short, they get each other.

However, Champion has dated men from other ethnic backgrounds as well.

Secondly, Cari wants someone who is ambitious and has a goal.

In a segment, Cari stated that she prefers a man who has some money in the bank and has a stable profession.

She said,

“I want you to have some money in the bank, and I want you to have what I have on a certain level. Because I work hard, and I want you to work hard.”

She further said,

“There’s something about us that we need to feel safe.”

So there’s that.

Online Dating and More

So, Cari also has a thing against Online dating. She’s not exactly against it, but the idea of putting things about her online for people to look at is not digestible.

Or, in other words, she’s afraid.

Cari said,

“I’m afraid of online dating. For me, it’s a little too vulnerable to put so much information out there. I’m like timing out.”

However, if she were to opt for online dating, she’d want men to pursue her and show some effort.

“In terms of pursuing and being pursued, I’d rather a man pursue me. I want to know you want me; I want you to put in the effort. Because how you start is how you end.”

Moreover, Cari is not among those who put their relationship ahead of their career.

“I’m under the impression that I always put a relationship to the backburner from my career. I think, in a lot of ways, for me, it’s paid off. But you do get to a point in your life like, “Okay, I am looking for a relationship.” But I know you cannot turn it on like that.”

She continued,

“I would never ever, to a lot of young ladies, tell them to put their career to the side for a relationship.”

Now, this may come as a pretty strong statement, but there’s a caveat.

“If you know you have somebody who will support you and love you, you wouldn’t have to put your career to the side.”

Champion’s 15 Boyfriend

In a late 2020 interview with The Carlos Watson Show, Cari said something that shocked everyone.

The topic was how black women were perceived and treated outside of America.

Cari said that she went to Africa and that being there healed her soul.

Champion said,

“My time there was healing for my spirit. There is a level of respect that you have for black woman. I remember when someone first started calling me queen, I was like ‘Wait, that’s odd. That feels odd.’ But in Africa, it really truly is an admiration for women, mothers especially. They are the goddesses of their families”

Champion further talked about other countries like Europe.

She said,

“I feel in other countries like Europe, Black women are idolized. We’re considered exotic.”

Champion further said,

“When I go to Paris, I got 15 boyfriends. I don’t even know who to care. [Laughs and continues] We are idolized in that way.”

This sparked a little controversy as many people came forth with their perspective.

Some said that men in Paris do respect women but they don’t worship black women like Cari explained.

Meet Cari’s Ex-Boyfriend Ryen Russillo

In 2014, sportscaster Cari Champion surprised her followers by announcing her colleague Ryen Russillo as her boyfriend.

She made their relationship official through a tweet on May 26, 2014, stating,

Both Champion and Russillo referred to each other as boyfriend and girlfriend on Twitter multiple times.

During a previous interview on the Michael Smith and Jemele Hill ESPN podcast, Champion mentioned that as she gets older, she thinks about the children she would have with a man.

Speculation arose that she might have been referring to Russillo at the time.

However, over time, the couple stopped appearing together, and they are no longer following each other on social media. These actions indicate that they are currently not dating.

  2. Like the late Kevin Samuels would say she will probably get a dog or cat, & die alone unfortunately !! It’s pretty amazing she starts off dating Caucasian men but now wants a black husband it’s a joke , me myself I am afro American & you should see how we afro American men are treated going overseas by women , western women to me is all the same I would never marry 1 , my idea women would be from another country & I would stay over there so she would not be poisoned by western women, but like the late Kevin Samuels would say good luck in getting a man , especially with the amount of money she makes , there will be very few to match her financially unless she finds her a stetson .lol
