He signed a $5 million record deal with Universal Records for up to five albums. Although he recorded songs, none were ever released.
By the time he was 27, Benjamin had faced many struggles. He reluctantly participated in the Church of Scientology, battled drug addiction, went to rehab, and suffered from depression.
On July 12, 2020, while at his home in Calabasas with his girlfriend, Diana Pinto, and brother-in-law, Ben Smith-Peterson, Benjamin took his life.
Neighbors heard someone scream, “Don’t do it,” followed by a gunshot. The Los Angeles coroner later confirmed that Benjamin died by suicide from a shotgun wound.

Musician Brandon Howard said Keough’s depression worsened during the coronavirus lockdown when he stayed at home.
Howard explained that the pressure of being part of the Presley family “definitely” increased Keough’s struggles.
“It’s tough when your family expects you to live up to a name and image. It’s like you’re forced into becoming a musician or actor,” he added.
In 2022, Lisa Marie Presley wrote an essay and admitted that she blamed herself for Benjamin’s death every single day.
One of Lisa’s friends shared that she now lives in a constant state of sadness and that Benjamin’s death, someone she adored deeply, has worsened her grief.
