Chaka Khan is an American singer, songwriter, author, entrepreneur, activist, and philanthropist.
Chaka was born on March 23, 1953, in Chicago, Illinois, and she is 70 years old.
Initially, Chaka’s sound engineer at the time advised her to check out a few of Doug’s recordings.
That is how the singer and Rasheed first met way back in 2000.
Then, the two partnered together on several projects. One of their most famous collaborations is Chaka’s hit, “Will You Love Me,” which was nominated for a Grammy award in the best R&B Album category.
Slowly, the two started spending most of their time together and developing feelings for each other.
She even mentioned,
“I started liking Doug…. The feeling was mutual. There was something special about Doug.”
Currently, several tabloids are publishing conflicting facts regarding their marriage.
While others state that the couple wed in a small ceremony back in 2001.
Others think they were only romantically involved briefly and never got married.
So, it’s still unclear what relationship the two shared, but neither the singer nor Rasheed ever shared anything about their marriage or the split.

However, what we know for a fact is the two never shared any children.
However, the Queen of Funk, Chaka, was married twice before meeting Doug and has two children from two different relationships.
She became pregnant with her daughter, Milini Khan, in 1973 with her partner at that time, Rahsaan Morris.
Milini is an aspiring singer and actress.

Did Chaka’s Drug addiction cause the divorce?
The Queen of Funk secured her first record deal at the age of 17.
Music and singing were always her muses, and she pursued the path diligently.
Success was linear for her as everything fell right into place. Her records broke records, sold millions of copies around the world, and she ultimately became immensely rich.
However, that fame and money got her into drugs.
Khan spent most of her adult life battling cocaine, heroin, and alcohol addiction.
“I was in my 20s and singing with the band, Rufus. We were taking cocaine all day and working 12, 13, and 14 hours in the studio. I was having trouble getting any sleep, and I was very depressed. I came back home one morning and took a heavy-duty sleeping pill. It didn’t work, so I took another one. The next thing I know, I’m in an ambulance, getting my stomach pumped, and they told me that I nearly died.”
In 2005 she was clean and sober for quite a while. But things turned around when she got addicted to the painkillers she took after knee surgery.
However, there isn’t enough proof to state that Chaka’s substance abuse contributed to her separation from Doug.
But, for a fan, this theory seems very plausible.

Similarly, Khan met her second husband in a very unusual manner, around the time when she was addicted to drugs.
“He lived next door to me in Laurel Canyon. He said I walked into his house, walked up to his bed, knelt on the floor, and collapsed. He didn’t feel a pulse and called 911.”
Shortly after that, the couple began dating.
Furthermore, she wed Richard Holland, her second husband, on August 14th, 1976.
However, On December 2nd, 1980, she also filed for divorce from her second spouse.
Later, she revealed it was an abusive marriage and confessed she shot her husband after he punched her in the face.
“I went for the shotgun, loaded it, pulled the trigger. I missed him because as soon as he saw the gun, he high-tailed it into the office, slammed the door, and turned out the lights.”
Eventually, Khan and Holland divorced. When they were married, Khan wrote: “Sweet Thing” for her husband, a song that became immensely famous.
