On August 1, 2010, Russell booked the Presidential Suite at a luxury hotel in Cary, North Carolina, meant to be as a gateway for the couple.

Russell and Ashton did not get married right after their engagement. They waited for a little over a year.
On January 14, 2012, Russell Wilson and Ashton Meem exchanged vows and got married at the Country Club of Virginia. Over 300 people attended the wedding, including some of Russell’s friends from the team.
