Tony Siragusa, born on May 14, 1967, in Kenilworth, New Jersey, United States, was one of three children born to Pete and Rosemarie Siragusa and grew up with his two brothers, Peter and Elio Siragusa.

Tony attended David Brearley High School in New Jersey, where he played football.

Later, he went to the University of Pittsburgh, where he also played football for the Pittsburgh Panthers.

In 1990, Tony, also known as ‘Goose,’ signed a deal with the Indianapolis Colts, marking the start of his NFL career.

Between 1990 and 1996, he played in 96 games with the Colts before joining the Baltimore Ravens.

Throughout his 12-season NFL career, he was a defensive tackle for both the Indianapolis Colts and the Baltimore Ravens.

Tony earned the nickname “Goose” because of his lively playing style. He celebrated successes by waving his arms like a goose, a tradition that started in 1997 when he joined the Ravens.

After retiring from football, Tony transitioned to media from 2003 to 2015. He worked as a sideline analyst and reporter for Fox covering NFL games.

Tony Siragusa Death

On June 22, 2022, a shocking headline emerged about the NFL star, Tony, passing away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 55.

Reports from TMZ indicated that before his passing, Tony had received CPR at his home in Toms River, New Jersey.

Police responded to a call about CPR in progress around 11:45 am and rushed to the scene. Sadly, Tony was later declared dead at his residence in Ortley Beach, New Jersey.

At that time, the cause of his death was still unknown as autopsy results were pending.

The sudden loss of Tony, who was 55-year-old at the time of his death, saddened and surprised not just the NFL community but also his well-wishers from all over.

In a 2012 interview with Howard Stern, Tony revealed that his father died from a heart attack while attempting first aid and CPR.

He mentioned that heart disease runs in their family.

In the same interview, Tony’s son also mentioned Tony’s wishes for his passing, saying,

“If I die tomorrow, I told my wife, ‘Just put a smile on my face. Put a little [Frank] Sinatra on.”

Anthony Siragusa, their first son and second child, was born on September 6, 1999, making him 24 years old.
